Dongqian Lake Tourism Resort sticks to the ideology of the planning taking the lead and coming first, and that the proposal must be done before action-taking. American Edaw Corporation is entrusted to make the concept planning and the overall planning of the new city. This set of planning, as a typical case, was ever introduced and was highly spoken of by experts throughout the world in the symposium held by the sustainable development committee of the U.N. The whole planning system considers Dongqian Lake to be the “door” and “key”, through which Ningbo can walk to the wild nature. At present, the distance between Dongqian Lake and the Ningbo Airport is merely 15kilometers, the construction of the world‘s No.1 Across-sea Bridge connecting Ningbo with Shanghai will be finished during the first half of the year of 2008, which will be open to the traffic once finished. By that time, it will take only two hours to drive from Ningbo to Shanghai. And Shanghai, Ningbo and Hangzhou may become the “golden triangle” of tourism in the Yangtze Delta area.

Under construction is the super five-star Boyue international hotel, which is schemed to be opened at the beginning of 2009. The five-star hot spring resort hotel, designed by the KKS company of Japan, has drawn the high-quality hot spring and is built along the valley, will become the characteristic hotel which combines the hot spring culture of different countries, and it will be put into use at the end of 2008; the oriental flower-themed garden of five-star standard will be constructed in the near future; there is also five-star conference center— Huamao international education forum. In the development, Dongqian Lake Tourism Resort Management Committee definitely put forward the ideology of “choosing business and assets”, and will try to ensure high starting point and high taste, while sticking to ecology preservation, local features and international standard. 2008 Beijing Olympic Game Bicycles Integral Competition & Dongqian Lake Around-lake Bicycle Competition will be held in the district and Dongqian Lake International Dragon Boat Competition is held in Dongqian Lake District at the end of each autumn.
