HAISHU District
Haishu District, in downtown of Ningbo, is the center of Ningbo's politics, economics and culture. The District, with 8 subdistricts, is embraced by FengHua River in the east, YuYao River in the north, adjoining Yingzhou District in the southwest, with an area of 28.7 sq/km and a residential population of 0.293 million. Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Ningbo Municipal government are located there.

The District is known for its long history, and anigue culture. Haishu is so named by the ancient drum tower-Haishu Tower built in ChangQing Year of Tang Dynasty. Here stand many historical sites including Tianyi Pavilion Library--a national protected unit for key cultural relics; the original site of Baiyun Villa where Wang Zhongxi (a famous thinker in late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty) gave lectures-- a provincial protected unit for cultural relics; Tianfeng Pagoda, Xiantong Pagoda built in Tang Dynasty and Chenghuang Temple built in Ming Dynasty.

The District owns complete infrastructure and convenient transportation. Ningbo Railway Station, Ningbo Nan Bus Station and HuHangYong expressway Ningbo entrance all situated there. It is 8 km away from Ningbo Lishe International Airport and only one bridge's distance from Ningbo Harbor Passengers Station. Haishu District has become the hub distributing public buses and taxis of the city.
The District is located in the prosperous centre of Ningbo.HaiShu District now has a number of Shopping malls and hotels such lite Ningbo International Shopping center and NanYuan five stars hotel.

In recent years, following the economical principle of ‘Development, Collection, Exploration’ and economical development strategy on real estate, Haishu District had made great effort on promoting service industry, especially on modern service industry and the industry structure is keeping upgrading and optimizing. In the year of 2008, service industry profits had increased RMB 27.68 billion, an increase of 9.8% over the previous year. Financial & insurance industry, wholesales & retailing, housing and catering, real estate are the important parts of service industry of Haishu District. These three parts occupy 56% of the whole increase on service industry. Some domestic and world famous enterprises, such as Hang Seng Bank, China Develop Bank and CITIC Bank, etc. had settled in Ningbo one after another. In the year of 2008, traditional service industry, with a promising developing tendency, had met RMB 21.55 billion on social consumer goods retailing amount with an increase of 14.3% over the previous year. With the completion of some newly-built business mansions such as CITIC Bank mansion and Li Yuan Shang Du mansion, there have been 86 business mansions, which have more than 9 storeys, completed and used in the whole district. The total acreage of business mansions had reached 2.8 million square meters.


Taking advantage of Ningbo's excellent commerce & trade foundation and its favorable location; adopting the strategy as "Utilizing Commerce & Trade to Boom the District", the tertiary industry of Haishu District has achieved remarkable progress.A series of promising key projects have been completed. By introducing international supermarket, great mall, and large market; centering on Tianyi Square and Chenghuang Temple, a new business section with an integration of business, dinning, culture, tourism, entertainment has come into being.

The Industrial Economy in the District is developing rapidly as a result of industrial structure readjustment. In 2008, its output value in industry reached 28.873 billion Yuan. A new industrial economic pattern with machinery production, electronic instrument, textile & garment, metallurgy & processing as its mainstay has been formed. There have appeared many famous provincial & municipal brands such as Peace Bird, Fort, etc.

The District lays stress on developing export-oriented economy. A series of policies have been passed to attract foreign investment and perfect investment environment.


In accordance with the requirements to build a modern international seaport of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the construction of ideological civilization is strengthened to emphasize on creating a new image of central district. Based on the basic infrastructure, community construction rewards a prosperous development. Third-Class community networks, with the symbol of ‘81890’ hot line, have been built and have comprehensive influence in the whole county. The activities of building civilized community and block are prevailing in the whole district. The social undertakings including science and technology, education, culture and health, had developed harmoniously.

Haishu District, full of vitality, is building its modern district of 21 century with high-leveled business section and first classing residential area. Expedite the modernization of the whole District. Ningbo World Auto Trade(Logistics) Center

Ningbo World Auto Trade (Logistics) Center sits at the southwestern gate of Haishu District, east of Tongda Road and north of South Ring Road. The center occupies a land area of about 400,000 square meters and has a building area of about 310,000 square meters. It is conveniently located about 3km from downtown, 0.5km from Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway and 7km from the airport. The project is divided in to four sections: car sales section, car related service section, commercial and financial section and life support section. In time the center will be a secondary urban center featuring auto trade and integrating public service, catering, recreation and financial service.





Moon Lake Historical Blockr

The Moon Lake Historical Block sits among the downtown residential districts west of Yanyue Street and Gongqing Road, northwest of the moat, and south of Zhong shan West Road. With a land area of about 46.8 hectares and a current building area of 600,000square meters, the project involves pulling down 370,000 square meters of buildings (including 130,000 square meters of non-apartment residences). After rebuilding, about 200,000square meters of building will be used for commercial development. The project will emphasize both the preservation and utilization of historical inheritance by combining the inheritance with cityscape. In time, the historical block will become a comperhensive district with functions of living, cultural activity, commerce and recreation.


Riverside RBD along Heyi Road

The Riverside RBD along Heyi Road sits at the confluence of Yao River, Fenghua River and Yong River, north of Heyi Road and south of Jiefang North Road. The RBD occupies a land area of 10 hectares and has total building area of 200,000 square meters. On land lot no.1 here will stand Ningbo Marriott Hotel, which occupies a land area of 38700 square meters and has a floorage of 87527 square meters, with high-end offices for floor 4-19, and deluxe hotel for floor 21-38.On land lot no.2 here will be built a large shopping and recreational area with a land area of 58700 square meters and floorage of 126565 square meters, complete with international top brands,fashions, leisure, entertainment and catering facility. In time the riverside RBD will become a high-end and eco-friendly facility offering recreation, business and shopping service.


Riverside Business& Residential District by Yinfeng Road

The Riverside Business & Residential District by Yinfeng Road adjoins Fenghua River on the east, Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway on the south, boaders Nantang River on the west and Beidou River on the north. As a southwestern gate the central urban district, it occupies a land area of 1.6 square km and is designed with total building area of 1,820,000sq. m in floorage (780,000sq.m for residence and 790,000sq.m for office).
The first phase of project mainly concerns the development of a commercial and financial center and riverside upscale residences. The building area 900,000sq.m, including 12sq.m for residences, 550,000sq.m for office and 135,000sq.m for commerce. The second phase mainly concerns the development of upscale residences, recreational and tourist facilities and public facilities totaling about 920,000sq.m in floorage. The riverside upscale business district will be a brand new district with good landscaping, business facility, recreation and historical reserves.


Xinxing Mall

Xinxing Mall sits west of West Ring Road, south of Xinxing Road and Liyuan North Road, adjacent to Qinglinwan Residential Quarters, the biggest upscale residences in Ningbo. It will be the future business center of Haishu District. The land has an area of about 232mu and is designated for commercial use, with a FAR of 2.2.A total floorage of about 340,000sq. m is estimated to be developed here to attract general shopping centers, chain stores and international boutiques. When completed, the mall will become a sub-center of the city integrating the functions of recreation, shopping, catering and entertainment.
