Jiangbei District is the largest central district in Ningbo with a long history of business and culture. It faces Yong River on the east and Yao River on the south. Once it was the site as one of the five ancient trade ports opening to outside world since Qing Dynasty. Now it covers an area of 208 sq.kms with a population of 270,000.

A hot land for investment: In recent years, foreign-oriented economy has been greatly developed in Jiangbei and altogether 335 joint ventures have settled in the district by 2002. Jiangbei Investment Pioneering Park developed in 2001 is only 4 kms to the downtown of Ningbo and covers an area of 8 sq.kms. The first phase infrastructure construction (including road, water and power supply, telecommunication, drainage, sewage and land leveling) which can support an industrial area 1.6 sq.kms has been completed. The first exit of Hangzhou Bay Highway near to the downtown of Ningbo that is under construction now is just located at western side of the park. It will make Jiangbei become a vital window leading to Shanghai, the so-called "New Suburb of Shanghai, New Downtown of Ningbo, and new area of investors".

A natural garden for living: Jiangbei has a vast area, beautiful environment, and brilliant culture. Many key cultural relics are under national protection now, such as the perfectly protected wooden architecture - Baoguo Temple built since Song Dynasty and the two-thousand-years-old historic town - Cicheng Town, which had given the births of around 500 successful qualified officials promoted and honored through the ancient highest imperial examination. In recent years, the Ningbo Municipal Government has decided to build Jiangbei downtown into a prosperous place with the function of culture, tourism and leisure. The main part of "Sanjiang Cultural Gallery" is also located in Jiangbei, including many key projects such as The Grand Theater, Historic Bund Cultural Street, Ningbo Art Gallery, Water Sports Center which are all under construction now. Jiangbei is becoming very suitable for living, shopping and leisure.
